NTAC warned, “State government and Governor that despite all efforts to maintain calm, the volunteers were losing patient. In the event of any eventuality the Government and the Governor would be held responsible.”
Zeliang has refused to resign and claims that majority of the MLAs are with him. Zeliang said that the question of stepping down does not arise. “I have the support of all the elected members in the state legislative assembly. Only the elected members can seek change of leadership.”
Tribal organisatons has also asked telecom operators to immediately restore data and internet services or face consequences.
In the wake of violence in on January 31 incident in which two persons were killed in clashes between the police and protestors, mobile internet was suspended.
There has been series of bandh and since January 28, no government office was able to function.
