Nagaland governor asks Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu to prove majority by July 15

Governor said the question is not that whether it is an internal party matter but that the Chief Minister enjoys the support of a majority of the members of the house or not.

GUWAHATI: With Nagaland Cabinet resolving that there is no need for seeking confidence vote for the dissident is internal affair of Naga People Front (NPF), Governor PB Acharya has asked the Chief Minister to take the floor test and prove majority on or before July 15.

In a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, governor has asked Liezietsu to prove his majority. Former Chief Minister TR Zeliang claims support of 41 MLAs out of 59.

TheGovernor said the question is not that whether it is an internal party matter but that the Chief Minister enjoys the support of a majority of the members of the house or not.


Acharya said he was of the opinion that the Chief Minister has lost the support of the majority of members.

Acharya reiterated that the Chief Minister should call an emergency session of the Assembly to prove the majority on the house floor as early as possible.

Meanwhile, Zeliang said he is prepared for the floor test.
