Nagaland fears fresh violence as tribe groups' deadline to CM TR Zeliang nears
GUWAHATI: Nagaland is reeling under the fear of violence as the three-day deadline set by the tribal organisations to the Chief Minister TR Zeliang to step down expires on Friday midnight.

Last week, the state witnes sed large scale arson after Nagaland Tribes Action Committee ( NTAC) demanded that Chief Minister Zeliang and his cabinet should resign. Tribal bodies have been opposing 33 percent reservation for women in the urban local bodies (ULBs). The groups are mobilising volunteers in different areas in the state.

Zeliang met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP's national general secretary Ram Madhav in New Delhi.

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee ( NPCC) held a meeting and will send a delegation to Delhi to apprise AICC of the present situation.

NPCC said that the government has failed to listen to the people. They have betrayed the people of Nagaland, thus leading to a complete breakdown of law and order in the state.

“Their lethargic attitude has brought irretrievable division in the minds of men and women, government and the people,“ said a party worker.
