"We have made it clear to the Centre and NSCN (IM) that to bring about a final solution to the Naga problem, all Naga political groups and sections of the people must be included in the process," Nagaland CM Shurhozelie Liezietsu said.
GUWAHATI: Nagaland Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu said he did not consider statehood as the final agreement between the Nagas and the government of India, and that a broader settlement was needed to include the aspirations of all Naga people.

The chief minister said his party Naga People’s Front (NPF), stood for an early political solution that is honourable to all sections of the society, and that it supported the Framework Agreement arrived at between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015. However, the support for the framework did not mean that the party backed one single Naga political group over others, Liezietsu told delegates at the NPF’s Kohima Division Leaders Convention.

He added, “We support the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM). But this does not mean we support the NSCN (IM) alone. We have made it clear to the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) that to bring about a final and acceptable solution to the Naga political problem, all Naga political groups and sections of the people must be included in the process.” He recalled how the 16-point Agreement was arrived at between the Government of India and the negotiating party (Naga People’s Convention) to end violence and bloodshed in the land.

However, since representatives of the outlawed groups were not represented, it was felt necessary to have another agreement to bring effective peace, and that the regional party was formed to achieve that target.
