Nagaland assembly speaker Sharingain Longkumer has constituted a drafting committee for Naga political issue

GUWAHATI: Speaker of Nagaland assembly Sharingain Longkumer has constituted a drafting committee for the Naga political issue.

The issue is likely to be discussed in the ongoing session of the assembly. The committee has four members.

The opposition party said that the Governor’s address on the first day of the session was misleading, particularly on the Naga political issue.


Initiating the discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address at the Assembly, NPF MLA, Imkong L Imchen said that the speech made by Governor RN Ravi on February 12 that “the negotiations going on between the Government of India and the Naga groups over the past many years have been concluded,” was misleading the House.

Ravi who is also interlocutor of Naga talks while addressing the house on the first day of session said that Naga Political issue continues to remain in focus, there is a need for efforts to build on the substantial gains made so far, and to move swiftly for the final solution.

Talks between NSCN-IM and government of India are caught in a stalemate as the outfit is insisting on separate flag and Constitution and government of India is unyielding.
