Nagaland Assembly election notified

KOHIMA: Notification for election to 60-seat Nagaland assembly was issued today but no nominations were filed on the first day.

Polling is scheduled for February 23 and counting of votes will take place on February 28.

The tenure of the present assembly is till March 17. Major political parties Naga Peoples Front and Congress would be fielding candidates in almost all the 60 seats.

The last date for filing nominations is February six, while scrutiny would be done on February seven. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 9.

Election process will have to be completed before March 3, 2013, according to the notification.
