KOHIMA: Counting of votes for Northern Angami-II Assembly bye-election will be held on October 20 as October 19 being a Sunday is a day of worship for Christians and Nagaland has a sizable Christian population.

The decision to change the date was taken after some organisations including the Nagaland Baptist Church Council ( NBCC), had appealed the Election Commission to defer the date for counting of votes for the October 15 bye-election, as October 19 is a Sunday.

The EC through its September 22 notification changed the date to October 20, Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen said in a statement issued here today.
