Naga peace talks to resume soon: Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya
AGARTALA: Naga peace talks will begin soon and the problem can be solved through dialogue only, Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya said today.

"Peace talks will be resumed and the problem will be solved through dialogue only," Acharya, who holds additional charge of Tripura Governor, told reporters here.

The Centre, he said, wanted all out development of the north eastern region, which has only two per cent border with the country and the rest with foreign countries.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President both told me that north-east is our priority. It should be developed and its connectivity should be improved. There would be no dearth of money for its development," Acharya said.

The Governor said he would soon visit the Reang camps in Kanchanpur subdivision of North Tripura district.

"The Reangs were ousted from their home state in neighbouring Mizoram and were living in camps for the last 17 years. They must return to their home with proper arrangements," he said.

About 33,000 Reangs are sheltered in six evacuee camps since 1997. They took refuge in the camps following ethnic clashes with the Mizos over the possession of lands.
