New Delhi: There have been some notable changes in the new BJP team announced on Monday, with the surprise element being the entry of Piyush Goyal, Ram Madhav and Smirti Irani and the ouster of Amit Malviya, Tejasvi Surya and others.

Piyush Goyal: He has been a Union minister since 2014 and has always handled various portfolios. Now, Goyal has been assigned what he was doing before becoming a minister. He is the new BJP treasurer. Since the party follows the 'one man, one post' rule, he is likely to be relieved from Cabinet responsibilities.

Amit Malviya: He was appointed BJP's social media head in 2015. He has been replaced by Deepak Mhaske, who worked closely with Nitin Nabin when he was Chhattisgarh in-charge. Mhaske is Nabin's choice.

Tejasvi Surya: He became BJP Yuva Morcha chief in 2020 when he was the youngest MP in the Lok Sabha. He has been replaced by Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi. Joshi will focus on popularising the party's narrative among the youth.

Team Nabin Mix of Fresh Faces and Heavyweights
Ram Madhav: He has returned to the national team after six years. Till 2020, he was BJP general secretary and then removed from the post during JP Nadda's tenure. His comeback indicates that Madhav will play a valuable role in strengthening BJP, which values his skills on diplomacy.

Smriti Irani: After losing the Lok Sabha polls from Amethi in 2024, Irani was away from mainstream party work. She is the only woman general secretary in the new team. Getting an important role before UP polls is significant as she was quite active in the state during her tenure as minister.

Sandeep Pathak: The former AAP leader who scripted the party's victory in the Punjab elections recently joined BJP along with six other AAP MPs. He has been inducted in BJP's organisational team as national secretary. BJP understands his worth and is likely to get some crucial role in states heading for polls.
