N Srinivasan offers to back Sharad Pawar for BCCI president
Former Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI) president N Srinivasan has launched a desperate effort to stay relevant in Indian cricket politics after the death of Jagmohan Dalmiya.

Srinivasan met another former BCCI chief, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, in Nagpur on Wednesday and offered to support him in the election for the new board president. He also met his supporters in Bengaluru on Thursday to draw up a future course of action.

This effort by Srinivasan is aimed at foiling attempts by the Anurag Thakur faction to prop up IPL chief Rajiv Shukla as Dalmiya's successor.

The elevation of Sourav Ganguly as interim president of Cricket Association of Bengal has given a boost to the Thakur camp and was discussed in Srinivasan's Bangalore meeting.

Srinivasan's offer to the Maharashtra strongman stems from his desire to stay on as the chairman of the International Cricket Council till June 2016, and also from his need to have a decisive say in BCCI politics.
