PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today asked doctors in Union Territory to serve people in villages so that health care services would be available to the poor.

Felicitating the students who got admission to the first MBBS course in the government run Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute here, he said poor patients cannot afford to get care from private hospitals and institutions because of financial hurdle. Doctors of government hospitals should be prepared to serve the poor in villages, he said.

He said the previous batch witnessed successful completion of the MBBS course.
