My only aim is to dislodge Modi babu: Mamata

KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken a pledge to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It does not matter whether I live or die, but now my only aim is to dislodge Modi Babu from politics forever,” the Trinamool Congress chief told a rally in Kolkata on Monday.

Banerjee led the march against currency replacement in Kolkata in which artistes too participated.

Invoking Communist slogans, Banerjee said Kolkata was the first city that shouted, “Mera Naam, Tumhara Naam, Vietnam, Vietnam” and Kolkata is the first city to voice protest against currency replacement too. “Both issues are historic.

All our esteemed artistes and intellectuals have joined the protest march in Bengal against demonetisation. I will appeal to the intelligentsia to join the movement against demonetisation across the country like all of you did years ago during the Vietnam liberation war. The movement started from Kolkata at that time,” said Banerjee.

Ridiculing Modi’s efforts to encourage cashless transactions through mobile apps, she said, “Modi Babu is asking us to go cashless. I would say the Prime Minister has become faceless and his ideas are baseless.”

“Modiji has pushed the country to a historic loss and agony. What he did, Hitler could not have done. He is trying to pose as an international leader, when his country men are suffering and starving.”
