Muzaffarpur shelter home case: CBI files charge-sheet against 21 accused
According to the medical tests, 34 of the 42 girls were sexually assaulted.

The agency filed the chargesheet in a Patna court, nearly six months after the sexual exploitation of minor girls at the shelter home was first reported.
Medical tests found that 34 of the 42 girls lodged at the governmentfunded shelter home — run by an NGO of the main accused, Brajesh Thakur — were sexually assaulted.
The apex court has since questioned how Thakur received Rs 4.5 crore from the Bihar government in a span of 10 years to finance the activities of his NGO. The Supreme Court has also ordered the CBI to look into the antecedents, connections and influence of Thakur and his organisation. The Income Tax Department is also carrying out a probe. The Enforcement Directorate, meanwhile, has summoned Thakur’s son Rahul Anand and wife Asha Thakur for questioning on December 24 and 26.
Thakur was allegedly close to politicians in the ruling Janata Dal (United) in Bihar. A few months back, the apex court described Thakur as an influential man and recommended shifting him to a jail outside Bihar to prevent any obstruction to the ongoing probe.
The CBI earlier this month informed the top court that it was in the process of filing 21charge-sheets for every girl who was subjected to abuse and rape.
