Patna High Court has ordered that the probe be “monitored and supervised” by the bureau’s special director.
NEW DELHI: Unimpressed with the intent shown by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in expediting the probe into the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case, Patna High Court has ordered that the probe be “monitored and supervised” by the bureau’s special director. The court has given the special director liberty to constitute a fresh special investigation team (SIT) for further probe into the case.

Making it clear that the investigation needs top priority, a division bench of the court adjudicating on the case said “we are of the opinion that the investigation and the matter is required to be concluded at the earliest”.

So that, the order reads: “The real truth may come out and those who are guilty are booked and prosecuted at the earliest”.

Hence, the court has asked RK Asthana, special director, CBI, New Delhi, to monitor and supervise the case. Also, the court has ordered that in case the special director constitutes a new SIT, the same shall be communicated to the court.
