MUZAFFARNAGAR: The inquiry commission probing 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots here has reportedly turned down the plea of an IPS officer to record his statement.

IPS officer Amitabh Thakur alleged the commission rejected his plea saying that recording of statements is over and the commission is preparing its report.

The one man inquiry commission led by retired judge of Allahabad High Court, Justice Vishnu Sahai, has completed recording statements of 376 people and around 100 government officials in connection with the riots, sources said.

The probe panel has written to the IPS officer about its decision of not recording his statement, they said, adding the commission is now completing its report which has to be submitted by August 31.
