Muzaffarnagar riots: 15 accused surrender in court

The absconding accused, who were found involved in arson, loot and attempt to murder cases, surrendered before the court last evening.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Fifteen people accused in the Muzaffarnagar riot cases have surrendered before a local court which sent them to judicial custody for 14 days.

The absconding accused, who were found involved in arson, loot and attempt to murder cases, surrendered before the court last evening.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar has sent them to 14 days judicial custody till September 16 in the two riots cases here.

The court had initiated attachment proceedings against 15 accused.

The Special Investigation Team had found 15 people involved in riot incidents in Lisadh and Kutbi villages in the district on September 8, 2013.

Several houses were burnt and property looted during the riots in two villages.

More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and neighbouring areas in September last.
