Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday asked Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and other judges to look into the issue of separation of powers of the Centre and the states.

"When the Constitution was made, some experts questioned Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar (one of the key architects of the Indian Constitution) asking about the powers of the state and whether the Centre would be the boss of all the states. At that time, he (Ambedkar) said that states, barring a few, would have equal powers with the Centre. Are we (states) using these powers today?" Thackeray asked.
