GUWAHATI: What is expected to be test of BJP’s popularity and congress’s hold over the state ahead of the 2016 assembly polls, around 74 Municipal Boards/ Town Committees will go to polls on February 10.

Assam State Election Commission through a notification issued on Monday has notified election of Commissioners.

The State Election Commission prescribed the Model Code of Conduct for observance by the candidates and Political Parties. According to a statement of state election commission The Violation of the Model Code of Conduct shall be dealt in accordance with Laws/Rules in existence.

The political parties have been consulted before formulation of the Model Code of Conduct in a meeting held on January 8, 2015 in the Commissions Office. Restrictions imposed shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till the election process in over.
