Mumbai rains: Local trains cancelled, flights delayed
MUMBAI | NEW DELHI: Heavy rains lashing Mumbai led to cancellation of local train services leaving thousands of commuters stranded. There was an average 45 to 60 minutes delay in arrival and departure of flights at the Mumbai airport and the diversion of three flights to Ahmedabad and Vadodora.

The central, western and harbour lines were cancelled and commuters got stuck at suburban platforms. Western Railway services which were initially running late by 10 to 15 minutes, were later cancelled.

A Mumbai airport, a spokesperson said average flight delay is about 60 minutes. “Delay is set to increase as delay at one airport leads to a cascading delay,” the spokesperson said. Of the three diversions, one flight each of Indigo and Jet had to be diverted to Ahmedabad, while a Go Air flight had to be diverted to Vadodara.
