Mumbai police launch probe in Preity Zinta 'molestation' case
MUMBAI: A day after an FIR was registered against industrialist Ness Wadia on the basis of a complaint filed by actress Preity Zinta, the city police launched an investigation by questioning witnesses and scanning all the CCTV footage at the site of the incident. Police indicated that no arrest would take place until the investigation is completed.

Zinta owns IPL team Kings XI Punjab in partnership with Wadia. Zinta has alleged that Wadia molested, abused and threatened her on May 30 inside the Wankhede stadium. “This is a very difficult time for me. My intention is not to harm anyone but only to protect myself,” Zinta said on Saturday. Wadia said he was shocked at the allegations.

“They are totally false and baseless,” he said in a statement.

Mamta Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, demanded a speedy investigation and arrest of the accused. “If this happens to a woman based in Mumbai who is a celebrity, we can imagine how unsafe it must for ordinary women. Police must take quick action and arrest the accused,” Sharma said.
