Dalvi was booked under sections 153(A)(1)(a), 153B(1)(b), 153A(1)(c),294, 504 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc. He was produced in court today where he was remanded to judicial custody till December 12. Hours after Dalvi’s arrest, four unidentified men entered the building in Vikhroli in Mumbai’s eastern suburbs and began vandalising a car belonging to Dalvi. The police have as yet not made any arrests in the case.
The Uddhav Thackeray faction meanwhile has supported Dalvi and said that they would block roads on Thursday if Dalvi is not granted bail. Shiv Sena Minister had indicated that they would be exploring whether Uddhav Thackeray can be booked for abusing Chief Eknath Shinde by calling him ‘nalayak’(incompetent).
