MUMBAI: The Centre has submitted a report to a London court about the living and security conditions at the city's Arthur Road jail where it is planning to lodge fugitive liquor baron, Vijay Mallya (61), once he is extradited to India. Mallya is accused in a money-laundering case.

When brought to Arthur Road jail, Mallya would be lodged in Barrack 12, which was occupied by 2611 Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab.

The report, submitted by the government, stated that Arthur Road jail has all the measures for the safety of the inmate (Mallya).

“The report was prepared in detail by the jail department and handed over to the government, which in turn, through the CBI, sent it to the Westminster Magistrates' Court which is hearing Mallya's extradition case,“ said a source.

The 1925-constructed Authur Road jail's official capacity to lodge prisoners is 804, but currently it houses over 2,500 inmates.
