Mumbai Congress secretary Ajay Singh joins BJP

Former MLA Ramesh Singh Thakur and Krishna Hegde had crossed over to the BJP blaming Nirupam for his style of functioning.

MUMBAI: Mumbai Congress secretary Ajay Singh, a close aide of former city unit party president Kripashankar Singh, today joined the BJP after he was denied ticket to contest BMC election, slated for February 21.

Singh blamed city unit Congress president Sanjay Nirupam for "deliberately ignoring local leaders with a mass base."

City unit BJP president Ashish Shelar appointed Singh as a secretary of the city unit.

Singh had begun his political career with BJP Yuva Mocha. He joined Congress in 2004.

Earlier, former MLA Ramesh Singh Thakur and Krishna Hegde had crossed over to the BJP blaming Nirupam for his style of functioning.
