Mumbai on Wednesday witnessed the coldest day of the winter season with mercury dipping to a new low of 9.4 degrees Celsius.

MUMBAI: Mumbai on Wednesday witnessed the coldest day of the winter season with mercury dipping to a new low of 9.4 degrees Celsius.

The lowest temperature of 9.4 degree Celsius this season was recorded at suburban Santacruz station while the Colaba in south Mumbai recorded a minimum of 13.4 degrees Celsius.

Previously, the lowest temperature recorded in the city this season was 10.2 degrees Celsius.

The recent cold spell in the city has been attributed to the cold conditions prevailing over north India, MET officials said.

The lowest temperature recorded in the city was 7.4 degrees Celsius on January 27, 1962.
