Mumbai ATS seeks transit remand of accused in CRPF attack
The Maharashtra ATS team probing the 26/11 terror attack will seek the transit remand of yet another accused in CRPF camp attack case, to investigate his possible links with the Mumbai siege.
Though the team arrived here on Friday to obtain the transit remand of Imran Shahzad alias Abu Samad, they were unsuccessful as the proceedings at the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court were over. He is the third fidayeen the ATS is seeking transit remand, Additional Director General (law and order) Brijlal said.
"An ATS team has arrived in the state capital to take Imran Shahzad alias Abu Samad, currently lodged in Lucknow jail."
The ATS would seek his remand when the court reopens on January 2.
Shahzad and accomplice Farookh were arrested from Husainganj area of Lucknow in February in connection with the Rampur CRPF camp attack in January.
LeT terrorist Sabauddin alias Saba and Fahim Ansari had already been taken by the ATS team to Mumbai early this month to interrogate them in connection with the Mumbai attack.
At the time of their arrest, maps of Mumbai and other information related to the city were recovered from them.
