Mulayam Singh Yadav to lead Samajwadi Party's election campaign

Mulayam will kick off his campaign with a rally in Azamgarh and inaugurate the Saifai Mahotsav in his native village two days later.

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is all set to assume charge of the party’s election campaign, after keeping off ground zero and projecting son Akhilesh Yadav as the new poster boy.

Until now, the SP campaign had been led by Akhilesh Yadav but it is the three-time chief minister and veteran socialist who continues to be the biggest draw for the party, which is going to the polls for the first time without the Bollywood glamour that came courtesy ally-turned-foe Amar Singh.

Yadav Sr will kick off his campaign with a rally in Azamgarh on Sunday and inaugurate the Saifai Mahotsav in his native village two days later. Party spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhry said more rallies will be lined up after the Azamgarh meeting. Mulayam will tour with Muslime leader Azam Khan
