Mulayam Singh Yadav meets Amar Singh

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav met former party leader Amar Singh at the latter's residence here today, setting off speculation about a possible rapprochement.

Yadav reached Singh's residence at Gomti Nagar and stayed there for about an hour, party sources said.

The party, however, said it was an informal meeting and did not elaborate on what transpired in it.

Singh later attended an iftar party hosted by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at his official residence where SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was also present.

Senior Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan was, however, conspicuous by his absence. Political observers said Khan did not turn up as he was perhaps not happy with the SP chief meeting Amar Singh.
