Mukul Rohatgi appointed as Attorney General of India
Senior SC advocate and Additional Solicitor General under the earlier NDA regime, Mukul Rohatgi, was appointed the Attorney General for India.

Speaking minutes after he was officially appointed to the post, Rohatgi told ET that his "first task would be to streamline government litigation in court, cut down unnecessary appeals and try and prevent government departments from litigating against each other".
"I will take it from there," Rohatgi said.
In 1999, his appointment as ASG saw Rohatgi shift base from Delhi High Court to the Supreme Court. He faced an unfriendly territory. In 15 years time, sheer grit and perseverance has helped him emerge as one of the top lawyers in the Supreme Court.
Rohatgi loves to travel. He had told TOI - "I spend my money on travelling and staying in good hotels across the world... I also love cars and have a good collection of them."
