M K Muthu Passes Away at 77
MK Muthu, the eldest son of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, passed away in Chennai on Friday, reported TOI. He was 77.

Muthu, who entered Tamil cinema in the 1970s, was introduced as a lead actor in films like Pillayo Pillai and Anaiyavilaku. At the time, the DMK leadership projected him as a counterweight to MG Ramachandran (MGR), the popular actor-politician who had founded the AIADMK,as per TOI report. However, Muthu’s acting career did not meet expectations.

Differences emerged between Muthu and Karunanidhi in later years, prompting Muthu to join the AIADMK. Their relationship remained strained until 2009, when the two reconciled after Muthu’s prolonged illness.
