MPs take on Panda over canteen subsidy
NEW DELHI: BJD MP Baijayant `Jay' Panda's decision to give up canteen subsidy could become a source of embarrassment for him, as 12 MPs belonging to both houses of Parliament have written to him asking him that he should first “give up all indirect and illegal subsidies like loan waiver, tax concessions etc."

MPs have told Panda that like giving up subsidized food in Parliament canteen, they expect him to “set a personal example" by giving up all subisidies that his family-run Indian Charge Chrome Ltd (ICCL) has enjoyed. MPs have pointed out that ICCL has got a waiverconcession of around Rs 2,300 crore from IDBI which amounts to 16.5% of IDBI's aggregate NPAs of Rs 16,000 crore.

MPs have said that along with ICCL, another company Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys “put together find place in the top 20 bank defaulters in the country."
