ITANAGAR: Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh Takam Sanjoy today expressed grave concern over the reported shortage of ration supply in West Kameng district and directed the Food and Civil director for immediate restoration.

A delegation led by parliamentary secretary for Science and Technology Phurpa Tsering called on Sanjoy and apprised him of the acute shortage of ration especially rice in West Kameng district, official sources said here.

The district has been reeling under the shortfall for two months following the limitation on monthly allocation of rice from 3600 quintals to 2800 quintals.

Sanjoy called the Food and Civil Supply Director and directed him to take immediate steps to restore the normal monthly allocation of 3600 quintals.

He insisted that the shortcoming is resolved before his scheduled public meeting in West Kameng next month while assuring the delegation of prompt and permanent solution after discussing it with the Food and Civil Supply Minister Kamlung Mossang soon.

Earlier, while urging the MP to take up the matter seriously, Tsering pointed out that the people of West Kameng primarily depend on PDS items as the denizens of the district do not grow rice but horticulture products, sources added.
