MP Nihal Chand Meghwal summoned to court in rape case
JAIPUR: Rajasthan's lone minister in the Narendra Modi government, Ganganagar MP Nihal Chand Meghwal, was on Thursday summoned by a district court in Jaipur to appear in a rape case in which the minister and 17 others are charged.

Additional district judge Prem Prakash Gupta issued notices to all those charged under the case – first registered as an FIR in the city’s Vaishali Nagar police station in 2011 by the rape victim’s husband – to be present before the court by August 20.

The case had gone in Meghwal’s favour after a police investigation in the complaint found the MP not guilty in 2012.

However, after the victim’s review petition in January 2013, the case came up again and has put the MP in trouble.

The development has already created a political controversy with Congress demanding Meghwal's resignation.
