Mount Carmel girls to quiz Rahul Gandhi today

BENGALURU: Gandhi will interact with about 1,500 students at this all-girls college Mount Carmel College (MCC) is bustling with activity . One group of students is busy rehearsing while another group is making frenzied telephone calls. After all, they have a high-profile political leader paying a visit on Wednesday . Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will interact with about 1,500 secondand third-year degree students at this all-girls college in what marks the beginning of a series of visits he will make to colleges and universities across the country .

Gandhi will address students briefly before the floor is thrown open for a question-and-answer session that is expected to last about an hour.

The MCC Students' Union has handpicked students who will ask him questions. Tanya Chhabria, a final-year communication student, is one of them. "I want to see him put in a spot with some hard-hitting questions," she said. While declining understandably to reveal what her question would be about, Chhabria said Gandhi needs to firm up his soft ground. "If you compare his plans versus Narendra Modi's plans for economic development, we know that the latter won because his plans seemed better. Rahul needs to work on a lot of things."

Namrata Chandrashekhar, a final year B Com student who is also the president of the MCC Students' Union, said the arrangements for Gandhi's visit have been kept simple. “We are working in coordination with his PR and security teams.From our end, the focus on the interaction will be on knowing his vision on India's education system," she said.
