Motorcade with Iraq's first lady hit by bomb

The office of Iraq's president says a bomb hit a motorcade carrying Iraq's first lady as it moved through downtown Baghdad.

BAGHDAD: The office of Iraq's president says a bomb hit a motorcade carrying Iraq's first lady as it moved through downtown Baghdad, injuring four of her body guards but leaving her unharmed.

The office says Hiro Ibrahim Ahmed, wife of President Jalal Talabani, was headed to the city's central National Theatre to attend a cultural festival when the attack occurred just before noon.

The bombing occurred today in Baghdad's Karrada district. It was unclear if she was the target of the bombing.
