More IT raids, Rs 1.5 crore in new currency seized in Guwahati
KOLKATA: The Income Tax department has seized about Rs 1.54 crore in new currency notes from the residence of an 80-yr-old hotelier, in the Beltola area of Guwahati in Assam.

According to Income Tax authorities, Bedi now has rental income only.The raid at Bedi's residence follows the multiple raids that the IT department is undertaking across the country post demonetisation of old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations.

Similar raids have previously been carried out across Bengaluru and Chennai. In fact, a Bengaluru-based BJP leader has also been arrested for possessing such high amounts of new currency notes.
