In continuing raids to unearth explosives in sensitive areas, police today recovered 10 more crude bombs from a private plot near Panur.

KANNUR: In continuing raids to unearth explosives in sensitive areas, police today recovered 10 more crude bombs from a private plot near Panur, about 35 KM from here, police said.

Seven crude bombs and three explosives put in ''ice cream ball'' cases were found kept in a bucket and plastic cover in the uninhabited plot of one Dr Shahid at Kaivelikkal by the specially set up 'Scorpion Squad' led by District Crime Record Bureau DySP P C Babu around noon, they said.

Police are continuing raids to recover explosives from the politically sensitive areas around Thalassery town in the wake of the death of two RSS workers in an accidental bomb explosion at Cheruvanchery on November 10 and after seizing 125 bombs from a nearby locality three days later,they said.

State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan had recently announced setting up of a special squad to investigate such cases and expose those involved in the stockpiling of weapons in the sensitive localities.
