Monsoon session of Parliament from July 18
The CCPA, chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, met here today to recommend the dates.

The only certainty during the forthcoming monsoon session would be the election of the Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha. The seat has fallen vacant after PJ Kurien completed his term. The Opposition is likely to put up a joint candidate.
Regional parties are keen on fielding candidate, with TMC and BJD being the front-runners. Congress is likely to support the candidate from one of the two parties.
The government will bring Bills to turn six Ordinances into laws. This includes the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Bill; the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018; the Criminal Laws Amendment Bill, Commercial Courts Bill, National Sports University Bill and Homeopathic Central Council Bill.

The legislative agenda of the government includes the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017 –– known as the Triple Talaq Bill –– which is pending in the Rajya Sabha. Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has stated that the government is willing to do a rethink on the clause that allows a third party to file a complaint. However, the government is against the Opposition’s demand to send the Bill to a Select Committee.
The Constitution (123rd Amendment) Bill which seeks to give constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes is also likely to come up. It could not be passed when the Congress moved an amendment on the composition of the body.
The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill may see the light of day as the Social Justice Ministry has accepted almost all the recommendations of the Standing Committee dealing with the Bill.
Other Bills include National Medical Commission Bill, 2017, and the Right to Education (2nd Amendment) Bill, 2017.
