Mohan Charan Majhi to be BJP's first CM in Odisha; KV Singh Deo, Pravati Parida made DY CMs
Bharatiya Janata Party who will be forming government in Odisha for the first time has appointment a tribal leader, Mohan Charan Majhi, as its new Chief Minister with Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida as Deputy Chief Ministers.

The tribal leader belongs to Santhal tribe, mostly distributed in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Majhi has huge responsibilty on his shoulders as he will be the BJP's first CM of Odisha after BJD remained in power for the last 24 years.

"Delighted to announce that Shri Mohan Charan Manjhi has been elected unanimously as the leader of Odisha BJP Legislature Party. He is a young and dynamic party karyakarta who will take the state forward on road to progress and prosperity as the new Chief Minister of Odisha. Many congratulations to him," said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who was the political observer for BJP in Odisha.

About Odisha's new CM:
Aged 52 years, BJP chief whip Mahji in Odisha Assembly won the polls from the Keonjhar seat defeating his nearest rival Mina Majhi of BJD by 11,577 votes.

Mohan Majhi is a four-time tribal MLA from Keonjhar assembly, a tribal-reserved seat in the state.

Mahji started his political journey as a sarpanch in 1997-2000. Additionally, Majhi has worked as secretary of State Advasi Morcha (BJP). A native of Raikala village under Keonjhar Sadar police station in Keonjhar district,

The BJP stormed to power in Odisha by dethroning the BJD which has been in power for the last 24 years. The BJP won 74 seats in the 147-member Odisha Assembly and was leading in four more seats, the Election Commission of India.

The BJD has won 50 seats and was leading in one seat. Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik won from the Hinjili seat by defeating his nearest BJP rival Sisir Kumar Mishra by 4,636 votes.

Preparations are in the final stage at the Janata Maidan park, the venue for the oath-taking ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, central ministers and chief ministers of many BJP-ruled states are likely to attend it.
