Modi voted most popular Gujarati in TV opinion poll

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night received 'priya Gujarati' title based on an opinion poll conducted by a television channel.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night received 'priya Gujarati' title based on an opinion poll conducted by a television channel.

Out of the nine contestants for the poll, conducted by E-TV Gujarati, Modi bagged 82 per cent votes to emerge on the top, said Chairman of the E-TV Group Ramoji Rao before the presentation of the title.

Title of `priya (popular) Gujarati' was presented to Modi by saint Morari Bapu.

After accepting the award, the BJP leader said till today he used to receive criticism from the media but viewers of the same media have now given him this title.

Modi said he was able to win the title as the television channel had decided to find out the most popular Gujarati instead of the best Gujarati.

"I might be having some faults but as I am popular among the people of the state, they have ignored my faults," Modi remarked.
