PM Modi to visit three cities to review Covid-19 vaccine development process
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit India's top vaccine hubs on a three-city visit to personally review the vaccine development and manufacturing process, the Prime Minister Office tweeted on Friday.

The prime minister will visit Zydus Biotech park Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and Serum Institute of India in Pune.

Modi is also expected to review the status of the vaccine, including its launch, production and distribution mechanisms.

The same day, he will travel to Hyderabad and visit Bharat Biotech, which is working on Covaxin, pitched as India's first indigenous vaccine candidate.

As the race to potential Covid-19 vaccine begins, ambassadors of over 20 countries from Russia to Australia will also be visiting the manufacturing facilities of Indian vaccine makers Serum Institute of India and Gennova in Pune.

The move comes as Indian government thinks that it has sufficient doses of vaccine for its population and hence can also supply to other nations that might be left out in the Covid-19 vaccine race as countries in Europe and the US secure their own doses.
