Modi statement to remain confidential: Supreme Court
The chief minister was interrogated for more than eight hours in March by the SIT appointed by the Supreme Court to look into the Ehsan Jafri case.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday said that the statement of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, recorded by the Special Investigating Team ( SIT) during the course of investigation, shall not be divulged to anyone except the trial Court and the public prosecutor.
The chief minister was interrogated for more than eight hours in March by the SIT appointed by the Supreme Court to look into the Ehsan Jafri case.
Ehsan, a former Congress MP, was burnt alive during the communal riots in Ahmedabad in February 2002. The SIT is headed by former CBI Director RK Raghavan.
The Supreme Court also said that it wants to further probe into former Gujarat minister G Zadaphia and a top cop M K Tandon and two other police officers.
However, the Supreme Court said that they have full faith in SIT. The Court also informed that interrogation report will not be given to Nanawati Commission.
