Modi says 'trust in BJP rising, Congress shrinking'
During a recent rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on the diminishing presence of the Congress party in Maharashtra and Bihar, suggesting that Assam could follow suit. He underscored the country's shift away from negativity in politics, ...

Addressing the public in Koliabhor on Sunday, he said, "The message from these elections is that the country is continuously rejecting the negative politics of Congress. In Mumbai, where the Congress was born, it has come down to the fourth or fifth place. In Maharashtra, where the Congress ruled for years, Congress has shrunk. The party has lost the trust of the country because it has no agenda for development. Such a Congress can never do any good for Assam or Kaziranga."
"For the past one and a half years, the country's trust in the BJP has been increasing. The public in Bihar gave record votes to BJP and helped it win record seats," he said.
He said even in the far distant south, BJP has started winning. For the first time, a BJP mayor has been appointed in Thiruvananthapuram. "The message is clear: voters want good governance and development. They focus on both development and heritage. That is why they like the BJP," he said.
Modi said, "Today, there is a major challenge before Assam -- that of saving Assam's identity and culture. The way the BJP government in Assam is dealing with infiltration, the way it is freeing our forests, historical cultural sites, and your lands from illegal occupations, is being greatly praised. The Congress, just to form the government, handed over Assam to infiltrators. Congress formed governments in Assam for decades. During this time, infiltration kept increasing. They had no concern for the history of Assam, its culture or faith. Due to infiltration, occupations happened in animal corridors, illegal poaching was encouraged and smuggling and other crimes also increased."
