Modi rules out CBI probe in MLA murder case

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has ruled out a CBI probe into the murder of ruling BJP legislator Rajkishore Keshari.

PURNIA: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has ruled out a CBI probe into the murder of ruling BJP legislator Rajkishore Keshari.

"There is no possibility of the state government handing over an inquiry into the Keshari murder case to CBI at the moment," Modi, who was here to attend the funeral, told reporters yesterday.

"We also don't feel the necessity of ordering a judicial probe," he said.

Modi said the state police was fully competent to conduct investigation into the case.

"In the event of any need in future, we will think of ordering a probe by CBI," he said in the light of demand by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and state Congress chief Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser for an independent probe by CBI.

Some NDA leaders have also demanded a CBI inquiry.
