Bihar chief minister and an old socialist Nitish Kumar strongly backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his argument that "Parivarvad" (dynastic rule) is not "Samajvad" (socialism).

Earlier in an interview, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had lauded Kumar for not bringing anyone from his family into politics. Modi had referred to socialist icons Ram Manohar Lohia and George Fernandes and said their family were not in politics. Neither is any family member of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in politics.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Kumar said: "Whatever the PM has said about socialism is accurate". He further said those politicians focussing on their family will not survive the heat and dust of politics in future. Kumar also said socialism means treating "whole society as a family". According to him, when "Parivarvad" (dynastic rule) begins, socialism ends.

Endorsing the prime minister's line on socialism, Nitish said, "Whatever the PM said is right." He also added that he was influenced by socialism during his student days.
