Raote was miffed as BJP supporters kept on raising slogans praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi while he was giving a speech at the inauguration of the Ram Mandir Railways station in Mumbai’s Western suburbs. Located between Jogeshwari and Goregaon Railway stations the new station was inaugurated today by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. However even before the inauguration there was a tussle to take credit for naming the station after the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
While the Sena Ministers claimed credit saying that they had proposed the name first, the BJP said that they made it happen, the supporters of the Shiv Sena and the BJP were in equal strength as they both started shouting slogans. Reacting to the BJP slogans praising Modi, the Sena began raising slogan praising its late Chief Bal Thackeray, matters however reached a head when the BJP supporters kept raising slogans praising Modi when Raote was speaking. The minister angrily shouted that (Lord) Ram was bigger than Modi and then left in a huff. The tussle between the BJP and the Sena is being seen in the light of the impending civic elections in Mumbai where both parties want to increase their seat share.
