Modi, Hasina, Mamata likely to pad up at Eden Gardens for Teesta Test
This is the second meeting between the PMs in as many months. There are expectations that Bengal CM may soften her government’s stand on water-sharing treaty. Banerjee remains intransigent on sharing Teesta waters with Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh PM attended the India Economic Summit in New Delhi early October and subsequently met Modi, opening a new chapter in regional connectivity.
There are expectations that West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee may join the two PMs during the match and this may contribute to a softening of the West Bengal government’s stand on the proposed Teesta water-sharing treaty.
Banerjee remains intransigent on sharing Teesta waters with Bangladesh, but Modi had promised Hasina last month a deal in the near future.
Pakistani PMs and Indian leaders attempted to bond over cricket in the 1980s and later during the 2011 World Cup that was hosted in South Asia.
Bangladesh has emerged as a key strategic partner for India in South Asia. At the October 4 summit, both sides inked an MoU to set up a coastal surveillance radar system in Bangladesh and decided to expand the connectivity network between the two countries that will boost New Delhi’s Indo-Pacific strategy.
