Modi government trying to sell off India to big corporates: CPI(M)
KOLKATA: Accusing the Narendra Modi-led government of trying to sell off India to big corporates, CPI(M) politburo member Mohammed Salim today accused Trinamool Congress of being a party to all "anti-people policies" pursued by the Central government.

"Narendra Modi and the BJP government are trying to sell the country to the big corporates and they have earmarked energy sector such as electricity, fuel and natural resources which will be given away at throw away prices to these corporates. They will loot our country," Salim told an agitation programme organised by the Left Front.

Salim said that a tacit understanding with the BJP kept Trinamool Congress from becoming vocal on various anti-people policies of the Centre.

The Left Front organised a two-day sit-in demonstration programme outside the state electricity board and a private electricity company's office protesting against the unprecedented electricity tariff hike by both the board and the company.

"The state government and the private company has to roll back the tariff rise. We will not agree with it. We will fight till the end to ensure that the tariff, which was increased, is called rolled back," Leader of Opposition Surya Kanta Mihsra said.
