New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the Modi government over security fortifications in Delhi and police action against agitating students. At a 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' event in Chennai, Gandhi extended support to the protesting students but conspicuously omitted any mention of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). He claimed that "Modi is fighting for his survival" and that "Modi does not understand that the game is over". Gandhi, however, was silent on the Congress' non-participation in the CJP's agitation.

Opposition MPs, meanwhile, are planning to march to the Supreme Court on Monday and submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice of India against the CEC and SIR.

At the Chennai event, Gandhi accused the Prime Minister of destroying democracy, indulging in "election-chori" and "vote-chori", and silencing voices. He said the Opposition's agitation "has surrounded" the ruling establishment.

"As you saw in Delhi, the city was shut down, the internet was shut down, police were beating up students, BJP released their own thugs to thrash students. Mr Modi does not understand that the game is over. The drama he has been doing for the last 15 years is coming to an end. The Opposition has surrounded Modi, Amit Shah, Doval, Mohan Bhagwat. We are going to ensure Mr Modi pays for the crimes he has committed against this country. 'Mogambo' Modi is destroying democracy...I want to tell all students, don't worry, never stop asking questions, together we will demolish Modi," he alleged.

Claiming that financial and international forces were controlling Modi, Gandhi further said: "Mr Modi is fighting for his survival and the mood in India, the mood among the students and the work the Opposition has done is catching up with him."
