An earthquake of moderate intensity hit the south-west Bay of Bengal region this morning, the Meteorological Department said.

NEW DELHI: An earthquake of moderate intensity hit the south-west Bay of Bengal region this morning, the Meteorological Department said.
The temblor measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale shook the region at 9:57 a.m., it said.
The epicentre of the quake was located at 6.6 north on the latitude and 84.5 east of the longitude.
