MNS warns Fox entertainment from releasing Marathi dubbed version of MS Dhoni biopic

MUMBAI: A film based on MS Dhoni’s life has run in to trouble with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. The MNS has said that it won’t allow allow the Marathi version of the film to be released in the state.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS) the film wing of the MNS has on Saturday written a letter to Fox entertainment who are the distributors of the biopic ‘MS Dhoni- The Untold Story’ warning them from releasing the Marathi dub of the movie in theatres in the state.

“We have written to Fox entertainment that they should not be releasing the Marathi dubbed version of the movie in the state. We have no issues with the Hindi version but we won’t allow the dubbed version to be screened.”said Ameya Khopkar President of the Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS) told ET.

Khopkar said that they don’t have any opposition to the film or the storyline however they are just opposed to screening the Marathi dubbed version of the movie. “ Let them screen the Hindi movie, I will myself go for the movie but when you dub a Hindi movie in to Marathi and release it, then it is bad for our Marathi film industry.”said Khopkar.

The latter added that every film maker may follow the same example as MS Dhoni film makers and the Marathi film Industry would find it tough to survive.

“ Let them make a Marathi movie on MS Dhoni and release it, we have no issue, but a dubbed version we won’t allow.”said Khopkar. While the warnings and threats issued by the MNS could land them in trouble, none of the filmmakers bothers complaining and most quietly acede to the demadns of the MNS.
